Let's get into some exclusive questions...


STANDISH: Can you tell us what's next w/ DMC Cookies?


DMC: Darryl Makes Cookies is coming to Amazon in July. So theyll be available there as well as DMC-Cookies.com We will be introducing oatmeal cranberry and Nov-Jan during the holidays the Christmas In Hollis sugar cookie is available. 



STANDISH: When you go to schools, has a child ever asked you a question that you didn’t know how to respond to?


DMC: When I speak at schools elementary and middle the children’s questions are very mature and intelligent. They ask a lot of questions about emotions and feelings. Our children are very smart! 



STANDISH: What do you think about when you brush your teeth in the morning? 


DMC: Im thinking about what I can find 

to help motivate and inspire me. So that I can help motivate and inspire someone else. 



STANDISH: Where is a place in Queens that feels special to you?


DMC: My old elementary school. I have many memories of school, comic books, drawing and growing up. I’m thinking of making a tv series about it.



STANDISH: Can you tell us a little more about your history w/ Rick Ruben?


DMC: Rick was our guide mentor and producer. No formal or legal contracts. He stuck his head in the studio room door one day and said “ hi I’m Rick” can I come in? Jay said yeah….that day he became our producer! 



STANDISH: Nas claims you're the Michael Jackson of Hip Hop, would you agree w/ this statement?


DMC: Whoa! Wow! I don’t know?!!! He’s PHENOMENAL on the mic so that BLOWS my mind!!!! Maybe it’s true lol! Because on King Of Rock I did proclaim….Its not Michael Jackson and this is not Thriller!!!



STANDISH: What does the significance to the intersection of 205th St. and Hollis Ave mean to you?


DMC: That’s where we were standing on our Adidas before we took Hip Hop around the globe! 



STANDISH: In your opinion, what is a humble lesson most people look over?


DMC: No one is better greater or more important than anyone! Don’t call me a celebrity That is something I could never be! I am you and You are me that’s the way it is for eternity! We are all stars!!!! And we should help everyone shine because they can! 



STANDISH: How did you meet Janette Beckman?


DMC: She rolled up and said “ I’m JB and you guys are gonna rock with me!” She basically said “I’m gonna photograph you guys!” We said “ Ok! 



STANDISH: How did it make you feel when the cops used to unplug you from the light pole as you tried to give live concerts in the streets?


DMC: It didn’t faze us! We tomorrow evening we would be back stealing electricity from New York City to have our block parties and park jams!



STANDISH: How did it make you feel being at Live Aid at such a young age?


DMC: SCARED!!!!! Lotsa lotsa lotsa pressure!!! But we did it! 



STANDISH: What advice would you give to the new generation of Hip Hop? So artists can be different so that Hip Hop doesn’t die.


DMC: Find new sounds and get more versatile with content. Make it interesting and challenge yourself. 



STANDISH: When you listen to Funky 4+1 today, how do you feel?


DMC: Empowered and invincible! Like there’s so much more fun to have! 



STANDISH: You had a very special experience at Momocon in 2023 where you had a group of children “mad at you” for not understanding who you were right away… Can you tell the readers what you learned from that experience?


DMC; They were familiar with the logo. But didn’t know the person. Then when they found out I was the guy who did the It’s Tricky song from White Chicks they put it all together. Oh that’s the RunDMC tee shirt thing! But I like being not known! Because it gives me the opportunity to introduce myself anew! And that’s a beautiful thing. We can meet each other where we are at!



STANDISH: Most people wouldn’t think to go back in your music and look for Easter eggs, can you give us a specific line from and old song where you “painted the picture”?


DMC: I am a superhero on the mic! Crash through walls Come through floors Bust the ceilings and Knock down doors!!! ( King Of Rock)



STANDISH: Do you have any plans to release another children’s book?


DMC: Darryls Dream is out now. That’s the first book. Darryl’s Christmas In Hollis is coming out this November. Darryl’s Decision will be in Spring. Seven more books to follow. 



STANDISH: Anything else you’d like to include here?


DMC: New single She Gets Me High featuring Sebastian Bach, Travis Barker, Mick Mars and Duff McKagan this summer! Album feat Joan Jett, Sammy Hagar, Agnostic Front and others in the Fall! Get Ready To Rock!!!
