Let's get into some exclusive questions...
STANDISH: You played "Hushed Girl" in "The Silence", can you tell us more?
Sure! The Silence is about a world overrun by deadly creatures that hunt by sound. My character, the "Hushed Girl," is part of a mysterious cult that uses silence as power. Even though she doesn’t speak, herpresence adds tension and helps show how far people will go to survive in this new world.
STANDISH: How'd you land your "The Silence" role?
Like other auditions, I submitted through my agency. When I went to the callback, there were actuallyboth boys and girls auditioning for the role! A couple of days later, my agent let me know I booked TheSilence.
STANDISH: If you could play any role in "The Silence", which would it be? Why?
I honestly couldn’t imagine playing any other role. Every actor felt so perfect for the part they played.I’ve never had to challenge myself the way I did to play the “Hushed Girl,” so I wouldn’t change that fora second!
STANDISH: What was the most difficult/enjoyable part of playing the "Hushed Girl" in "The Silence"?
With my character’s tongue cut out, it was both the most dificult and most enjoyable part of working onthis film. It’s interesting to see what you can do as an actor in a scene when something so vital is takenaway from you, such as being able to speak.
STANDISH: What's your favorite part of the movie "The Silence"?
My favorite part is when Ally watches as her family is taken away by the creatures. The scene is silentfrom her perspective, which makes it even more powerful. It’s such a haunting way to show the chaos.
STANDISH: In all of the movies you have acted in, which was your favorite role to act?
I really enjoyed working on The Braid, a film by Laetitia Colombani. She was incredibly kind and veryopen to suggestions, both from the actor and from the crew. Working on the film felt like working withfamily. The movie carried such a strong and important message, and everyone truly put their heart andsoul into it, which made the experience unforgettable.
STANDISH: What is something you want your fans to know about you?
I am actually a bit of an introvert! You would think growing up as a dancer and being on the big screen Iwould be very outgoing, but I’m a little shy until you get to know me.
STANDISH: What's your favorite memory as a child?
My favourite childhood memory was swimming in the backyard with all my friends right when weopened up the pool. We’d always have a BBQ and spend the whole day outside. It was just a fun,laid-back way to kick off the summer together.
STANDISH: What's on Sarah's playlist?
I'm obsessed with classic rock, and The Beatles are definitely my number one. "Eleanor Rigby" is by farmy favorite song. Not many people would expect that, but I’ve always felt like an old soul. Lets just saywe have a lot of Beatles memorabilia in our house.
STANDISH: What are you currently working on?
Currently I am just training and doing lots of auditions. Things are going really well so I might have someexciting news in the near future!
STANDISH: Who are your mentors?
Lewis Baumander, my acting coach, is by far my biggest mentor. I’ve been working with him since myearly teens, and he’s helped me grow both as an actor and a person. His teaching style is supportive as hepushes me to take risks while ensuring I feel safe and confident. His guidance has been invaluable and Istrive to learn as much as I can from him.TIA: Do you have a dream acting role?I’d love to star in a dystopian film. The genre allows for such unique storytelling, and the characters areoften pushed to their limits. It would be an exciting and intense experience.
STANDISH: Top 3 things on your bucket list…
I’d love to travel around Europe with my best friend in the next few years. Another goal is to learnanother language, and of course, to work on another horror movie soon!
