What is your name?
My name is Ronald “Showtime” Hawthorne. Age? I am 37 years of age.
Where are you from?
I am from Kansas City, Kansas
Wyandotte County.
What is it that you do?
I am currently a 2012 Paralympian Judo Athlete. I am also currently the number 1 ranked U.S.A Judo athlete in the country.
I am a professional and elite Judo fighter.
Tell us a little about your mission -
My mission is to inspire the younger generation that looks like me. Those who come from poverty and child abuse, to just be yourself. Also, not to allow anyone discourage you from being anything you want to become in life.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
In 5 years from now I see myself becoming and entrepreneur while owning businesses. My biggest goal is to win a medal in the Paralympics in the year 2028. In 5 years I see myself becoming a motivational speaker to a select crowd “inner city kids, that live in poverty”.
Who are your mentors?
My mentors are Ed Liddie, Harry Kendall, Scott Moore, and Reggie Montgomery.
What are you currently working on?
I am current working on becoming overall a better version of myself. Also gaining a second opportunity to achieve my goals the way I had planned on accomplishing them.
During COVID, we all faced struggles, what was one of your main struggles?
My main struggle during the pandemic was a rollercoaster ride. I was working in the corporate world and I had to juggle being a professional athlete. I had to stay fit all the while trying to find a corporate job.
Anything you'd like to include?
I strive to be the best that I can be every day that I am blessed to be on this earth. I am a walking a testimony and by the grace of God I a was given the opportunity to do what I was placed to do.
