EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - Independent Artist "Abstract" Is Paving His Own Route To Success...

Standish913.com has been blessed to do an interview with...

"ABSTRACT"!

Here's our official interview.....

What is your name?

Luke Terkovich but that felt like a strange artist name so I've gone by Abstract since day one.

Where are you from?

Grew up a bit in New Jersey but moved to Jackson, Wyoming when I was 11 and really formed my sense of identity there so I consider Wyoming home, I currently reside in Nashville, TN.

What do you do?

I'm a full time independent artist and also the owner/designer of my lifestyle/apparel brand known as Moon 52. I've also directed and written my own short film entitled Super Human which released alongside my album of the same name and am currently working on writing my first comic book.

Tell us a little about your company/brand -

I write from a very therapeutic standpoint. Investigating my own human experience through an array of genres, thus the name "Abstract" instead of concrete. My lyrics are always derived directly from my life and experiences but i do not confine myself to one genre or sound. I believe music is very much about communication and consider genres just different paints I can utilize while painting my story. I tend to write with a motivational arc infused in my work, with hopes that others can become motivated through my work but many times I'm writing what i need to for me and we all need some motivation, especially with the craziness of the world today.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Continuing to evolve and explore every creative venture that excites me. Been developing and testing a lot of outerwear (jackets/gloves/goggles/bags etc) for Moon 52 the last two years and with my heavy roots in the mountains, I'm excited to start putting all that into mass production and becoming a force to be reckoned with within the ski/snowboard world. I'll have my hand in everything from tons of new music, a physical store for Moon 52, more ventures in film and comic books and who knows what else.

Who are your mentors?

My parents for sure, my mother pushing my artistic side and my father pushing my business side. Both so necessary to become the independent artist that I am today. Outside of that, all the music and artists I grew up listening to, everyone from Bob Dylan and Billy Joel, to Green Day and Jet, to Wu-Tang and Tyler, the Creator, I truly grew up on the widest array of music which is why I tend to create with no boundaries.

What are you currently working on?

Singles. Dropped a full album last year called "No More Hope for the Hopeless" which I'm incredibly proud of, dropped my highest quality music videos yet alongside it as well. In 2023 I'll be dropping my own releases or collaborative ones every one to two weeks for most of the year. You can also expect the follow up to my 2019 collaborative project with Dylan Reese aka ELLIS! "Autology" called "Autology 2" (wild right?!) to start releasing in March and that thing is just a straight breath of fresh air. Also aiming for a full tour in 2023 and wanting to tour overseas again which I haven't been able to do since covid.

During COVID, we all faced struggles, what was one of your main struggles?

I think the minotionus cycle of life really got to me. I love to be home as much as anybody, the past 7 years doing this full time has always been in my home. I enjoy having my own space and studio and being able to lock in whenever it feels right but without new life experiences to draw from it was hard to stay inspired. That and I definitely missed touring, didn't realize how much I missed it till I did a three stop headliner recently, truly nothing compares to connecting with others over the music.

Where can fans find your music?

You can find me on just about every platform by looking up Abstract.

In your eyes, what's the biggest accomplishment you've made thus far?

My dreams have of course grown and gotten bigger as I've grown and accomplished prior ones but being able to live off this, live off what I love to do, that was the first dream. I put freedom above everything and the fact I've been able to get up and make my own schedule, work on my own time and do what I love every day without a label or anyone telling me what I'm supposed to do for seven years, that's major for me.

Anything you'd like to include?

If you're just now finding me I encourage you to take a full dive into my music. I truly believe I create such a wide range of music that anyone could find at least one song they love for me. If you don't, all I can say is keep digging cause it's there.

What are your social links?
