INTERVIEW - Hip Hop Artist "MastaCell" Is Taking Over The Industry...

Standish913.com has been blessed to do an interview with....

"MastaCell"!

"MastaCell" is a Hip Hop Artist, Songwriter, and Producer from Atlanta, Georgia. With strong influences generating from a wide range of music, animation, and southern traditions both old and new, MastaCell has been making his mark for nearly a decade.

With the release of his new EP & "The Homework Never Ends" he looks to further his brand and expand his vision.

What is your name?

My name is Marcellus Courtland, aka MastaCell, Leader of the MastaKnights of the Round Table, Company One. King of the Higher Plane depending on who you ask.

Where are you from?

I’m from Atlanta Georgia, been here for 29 years. Born and raised.

What do you do?

I do what it do, only joking. I primarily do rap and hip hop but I got back into music through playing bass guitar, which is my primary instrument. Like I said I rap but I also produce and am a song writer. I produce and write all my music. However I do have an engineer Josh Kapstone who mix and master my tracks.

Tell us a little about your company/brand -

MCMC Productions LLC is the brand I own and use but my family’s business is Studio Lo LLC. It is an studio/ event hall run for us to host shows and events for people to rent out.
MastaCell, the name I own, is used for everything I do and put my name on.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years Its hard to say. I have many plans, but most things don’t turn out exactly how you plan. What I will say is that everyday I’m working to build up my platform to be in a better plan than yesterday so I can see through with these plans.

Who are your mentors?

My mentors are everyone who motivates me to do better. Cliché answer but true, however. Someone who has been a superb mentor to me is Za Williams, bass player of arrested development. I met him through a friend of my dad and I and he regularly comes by the studio. Through a mutual love of music and bass playing he has taught me more than I can ask for about music theory and technique. This has been an essential help with my music when it comes to composing and producing beats and music.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on my album. I’ve already decided on the theme, and the record and the beats are in production. I’ve very much enjoyed using what I’ve learned on this journey into making this album. I’m also working on more music videos for the songs on my recent EP release, “The Homework Never Ends”.

During COVID, we all faced struggles, what was one of your main struggles?

Honestly my biggest struggle from COVID in terms of my music and working double shifts and jobs due to lack of staff, building this money up to chase the dream as they say. My EP “The Homework Never Ends” was started before the pandemic but it was originally scraped, but it was during the pandemic when I got serious about producing and remade it again, better, with my own vision intact. In these dark times its’s a beautiful thing if you ask me.

Where can fans purchase your music?

My music is distributed through Distrokid. For those who don’t know that means I’m on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Tidal, Amazon, YouTube, Deezer, and everywhere else you can stream and purchase music. Also my three and soon to be four music videos are out on my YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. I’m MastaCell everywhere and am not hard to find.

Anything you'd like to include?

It’s been your main man MastaCell. This is just the beginning. Let’s make it.

What are your social links?

I’m "MastaCell" Everywhere.
