Let's get into some exclusive questions...
STANDISH: You recently helped produce "SUPPOSED TO BE LOVED" featuring DJ Khaled, Lil Baby, & Future, how'd you land this incredible project?
MACNIFICENT: I gotta say, God’s Timing & TM88! Lol
STANDISH: You recently helped produce "Dead Last" featuring Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Vory, & Fabolous, tell us more about this one & where the inspiration came from…
MACNIFICENT: S/O to B March & Kid Wonder who initially sent over the keys, in which we added other elements around those keys that gives you all the complete sound for the production you hear today for that song.
STANDISH: You recently helped produce "by the pound" by Destroy Lonely, can you tell us more?
MACNIFICENT: This one is the funniest story! Lol this was a song that Me, DJ Moon, TM88, & Slo Meezy did earlier in the year. We were just producing a bunch of good vibes throughout the year & it was a beat that got picked later down the line. However when it came time for the trackouts, none of us could find the last version of the beat! It definitely had Me & Moon stressed out in a world of panic!!! I just remember sweating looking for these files that I couldn’t find so the pressure was on getting the files so we don’t miss out on the placement! Long story short, I remember what sound & VST was used at the time of making it & I was able to go back in & add my parts in the same exact way it was in the missing file we couldn’t find. I had to reward myself with a hot bath while staring at the wall in disbelief! Lol
STANDISH: Being under Taylor Gang & Super Producer TM88's "Crash Dummy Records" group, what does it feel like knowing you have a great team behind you?
MACNIFICENT: It's a very SURREAL feeling! Not only producing great music, but building a bond with the team as a whole! Getting familiar with other familiar faces within the industry as well. Team Work Makes The Dream Work!!!
STANDISH: If you could work with one artist, who would it be?
MACNIFICENT Right now I would definitely have to say The Weeknd! Lol.
STANDISH: Tell us a little about your overall mission, Macnificent -
MACNIFICENT: My overall mission is to not only inspire others but to continue to be a well oiled machine to inspire myself as well! No matter your age, I feel when you’re Dedicated, Determined, & Disciplined, that a lot can get accomplished when you’re focused on the goals at hand!
STANDISH: Out of all the projects you've done thus far, what's been your favorite?
MACNIFICENT: I would say as a collective of the things i’ve created, ALL OF THEM ARE MY FAVORITE! All of them have a story in some type of way that has helped pull the passion & inspiration of what's been put into the production. Whether it has been a good or bad time, during the time it was made, it has helped be the driving force in what you hear in each song.
STANDISH: How old were you when you first realized you wanted to do what you do today?
MACNIFICENT: I think like… 24! Lol I’ve always been a lover of music & started out wanting to rap first. S/O my big brother C. Logan for that one! I couldn’t find anyone to make my beats though!! So my brother told me, “Make your own beats!” And as I progressed producing, I became more interested in producing than wanting to rap! Lol.
STANDISH: Where do you find your motivation to be great?
MACNIFICENT: Prayer & just being surrounded around the right team! Also just everyday life! The people, places, & things of wanting better for myself & others around me have played a great role in that.
STANDISH: What can we look forward to in the future from you?
MACNIFICENT: To keep the world on the edge of their seats with exciting production to be played decades down the line. Longevity & Innovativeness!
STANDISH: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
MACNIFICENT: 5 years down the line I want to see myself still helping build what we started at Crash Dummy. Not only for myself & team, but for the next generation of opportunity for producers.
STANDISH: Being in this crazy busy industry, what does Macnificent find a relaxing day as?
MACNIFICENT: Relaxing day for me? Hmmm… just knowing how crazy things get within the industry, coming home to my family after the chaos! Lol that definitely relaxes me as well as replenishes me to take on the day with ease!
STANDISH: Who are some of your mentors?
MACNIFICENT: God, My Family, TM88, My Team Members & All the great producers who came before me that’ve tremendously helped shape the sound of music!
STANDISH: During COVID, we all faced struggles, what was one of your main struggles?
MACNIFICENT: I’m from Memphis, so covid was a CRAAAAZY time here! Lol used to own a hookah lounge out here & during the time of covid of course the city was heavily enforcing “Social Distancing”. They would only allow 10-15 people in places at a time so of course that wasn’t enough people to keep the business running. Just to show you how on time God’s Timing is, I got a call from TM88, Tomy, and Dre Black (separately) about my Crash Dummy contract and if I was still interested. I mean… OF COURSE I WAS!! Lol so I took my career more seriously & well… HERE I AM TODAY! But to shorten this story, God has everything worked out for you even when you don’t have it worked out for yourself. STANDISH: What advice would you give upcoming creatives like yourself?
MACNIFICENT: Your friends, family members, & people you don’t even know will doubt you & try to tell you to do something else because they think you will be better at other things. But always believe in yourself if you are for certain this is the path you want to take. It is a very committed path & though things will get rocky on this journey, that just lets you know you’re headed in the right direction! The same people that counted you out will be the same people telling you how proud they are of you for continuing. Don’t commit just for monetary or material purposes because that will all come with it, but commit to what you’re doing because you truly love what you do!
