STANDISH: Sup Fre$h? Standish here, we've both came far in this industry since we first met back in 2010 in the 913! I salute the hustle mane! Here's our throwback picture...
Let's get into some exclusive questions...
STANDISH: You're most known for being featured on "Me & My Drank" with Lil Wayne, what was the studio atmosphere like when recording this track?
SHORT: I don’t think that’s what I’m most known for but it is a hood classic! A lot of lean was poured in that session, think that was the first time I drank a whole pint.
STANDISH: The people want to know, are you still signed with Young Money?
SHORT: No, we never came to terms with the contract negotiations. Still my niggaz doe!
STANDISH: Tell us about your overall mission, Fresh -
SHORT: To stay true to self, keep this playa shyt alive and restore the feeling of lyricism being the focus since it’s become a lost art.
STANDISH: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
SHORT: Still creating dope music with the people I enjoy working with. Definitely more accolades and accomplishments under the belt. Fully staffed companies and investments paying off living between somewhere in the hills and out the country.
STANDISH: Who are some of your mentors?
SHORT: There’s a few people that blessed my game from Dj toomp, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Russell, Street Lord Juan, Wayne, Tit, Pimp C (long live Chad Butler) 50 cent just to name a few.
STANDISH: In your eyes, what is your biggest accomplishment to date?
SHORT: Staying consistent not getting caught up in what everyone else is doing and still being able to deliver quality music that keeps me constantly working with the best artists and producers in the game.
STANDISH: What are you currently working on?
SHORT: I just turned in my album “Refreshments” and I’m 90% percent done with my follow up project “Created Playa” in between all that I’ve been writing for a few artists out of Bollywood working close with Amrita Sen to shape the sound they’re bringing to the states. More recently bacc n forth from LA to Dubai workin wit YE & Ty $ on the new projects they got coming as well and my acting career has been progressing as well.
STANDISH: Where does your motivation come from to be great?
SHORT: My passion for music and competitive to be the best version of myself in whatever I set out to do.
STANDISH: During COVID, we all faced struggles, what was one of your main struggles?
SHORT: Sitting still. I spent a lot of time traveling then even tho shyt was shut down I still got to see more of the world than I had prior to.
